Good Intentions

What does "Good Intentions" mean?

Referencing Psychology Today, good intentions are often associated with well-meaning actions. However, well-meaning actions do not guarantee positive outcomes. While good intentions can stem from positive motives, they are not always sufficient to prevent negative consequences. The phrase "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" suggests that actions taken with good intentions can lead to unintended harm or regret. Therefore, while good intentions are important, it is essential to consider the actual impact of actions rather than solely focusing on the intentions behind them.

"Good Intentions" can have a positive or a negative outcome.

The King James Version (KJV) bible has 66 books. The plan of salvation for humanity begins with the book of Genesis and ends with the book of Revelation. Every Christian has good intentions to read the 66 books especially after baptism.

But what are the real facts, stats, and trends?

Key Bible Reading Statistics, Facts and Trends for 2025

The average Christian owns 9 Bibles but only reads 4 of them regularly. (Source)

Approximately 88% of American households own a Bible. The average American household has 3 Bibles. (Source)

About 37% of Americans read the Bible at least once a week. 59% of Americans say they read the Bible occasionally. 20% of Americans say they’ve read the entire Bible at least once. 35% of Americans say they never read the Bible. (Source)

Why is it important that our "Good Intentions" have a positive outcome?

Because we are coming to the end of this age and good intentions are not enough to enter in the kingdom of God. You must have a positive outcome with faith and obedience to God and have not worshipped Satan who is coming to exalt himself as God in Jerusalem. Thus, the actual impact of our good actions, rather than solely focusing on the intentions behind them, will result in your name found written in the book of life and you will not be cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation 20:15

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Who had "Good Intentions" in the bible but experienced a negative outcome?

Moses had good intentions but was angry with the people of Israel and thus his good intentions resulted in a negative outcome. He let his anger get in his way of trusting God and as a result he insulted God's holiness. This resulted in Moses never entering the promised land.

Numbers 20:7-12

7 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,

8 Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.

9 And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.

10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?

11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.

12 And the LORD spoke unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the promised land which I have given them.

God discerns the thoughts and intentions of our heart. His "Good Intentions" are to dwell with us.

Hebrews 4:12-13

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Revelation 21:1-27

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

SUMMARY
